In preparation for Easter, I caught up with Marissa Kraxberger, Vice President and Art/Head of Creative at Oscar de la Renta’s childrenswear line.
I asked her what celebrities kids she would most like to dress and what she would put them in, and also asked her about how she would plan a high fashion Easter Egg Hunt.
Marissa Kraxberger said she would really like to dress Jessica Alba’s daughters, Honor and and Haven. Kraxberger met Jessica Alba in 2011 when she was pregnant with Haven (and Marissa was pregnant with her son Hayden). “What she has done with her company Honest is so inspiring and I really believe in her vision.” said Kraxberger.
Marissa says she’d love to dress Jessica Alba’s younger daughter Honor in her button down linen dress (with bow detail) which retails for $245.
Daniel Vosovic showed his Fall 2013 collection at The W Hotel in Union Square today. The collection began with a view of a modern day female aristocrat. Mr. Vosovic sees the bold women wearing his line craving a colorful, textured look with a hint of rebellion. He says the collection has manifested into a deceptively simple collection, both in execution and detail.
Barneys New York is rebranding its two largest Co-op units before it transforms all of its Co-op locations, including the possible elimination of the nameplate from freestanding stores.
Co-op stores at 2151 Broadway, on the Upper West Side, here in New York, and The Grove in Los Angeles, will be rebranded as simply Barneys New York come summer.
Co-ops are known for a more casual mix of jeans and contemporary apparel and accessories for men and women. After the renovation, the Broadway and Grove locations will no longer sell men’s merchandise, with space to be given over to designer ready-to-wear. In addition, rebranded Barneys New York units will feature more handbags, shoes and jewelry.
Spring is the perfect time to add a little color to any wardrobe and home, and this seasons must-have trends like lace, peplum, sorbet colors and floral prints are in full bloom at Marshalls. To prepare for Spring, TV personality Maria Menounos went shopping at Marshalls and filled her closet (and her home!) with designer pieces in all of those same must-have trends that she’s seen and loved on the red carpet and on celebrities while filming Extra!
“Whether it’s a black and white cross-body handbag that becomes a showstopper at brunch with my girlfriends, or the amazing lace dress that I can’t wait to wear on the set, it’s about being savvy and knowing where to find designer pieces for less,” said Menounos. “For me, that place has always been Marshalls, and I hope that my list of finds will inspire others to go and find similar items that will make spring, and every day, more fabulous for them.”
Maria chose her “Fabulous Finds” from the incredible array of on-trend and designer goods Marshalls offers – from fashion to home decor. Her finds include must-haves for spring such as pink peplum top, flirty floral dress, embellished sandals and even a new brightly colored dog bed for one of her five pooches! Similar items are available in Marshalls stores nationwide right now.
What do you do with over ten years of combined experience at one of the world’s most outstanding online retailers? If you’re Lianna Shen and Alex Kirmse, you do it all over again, but with a twist.
“This is a different kind of retail,” said Shen, Co-Founder and CEO of Fairejour.com. “A certain group of consumers out there are becoming more aware. They like to know where things are made, how they are made, and who makes them. That is our market.”
Just over a month in business, the site now houses nearly 30 independent labels from 9 different cities around the world. Much of what Fairejour curates is unique, one-of-a-kind, locally made, ethical, eco-friendly, etc. But that’s really just icing on the cake.

Ricardo Seco Fall/Winter 2013 ALIVE
Ricardo Seco presented his Fall/Winter 2013 menswear collection “Alive” at Eyebeam gallery during New York Fashion week. This collection was inspired by the mix of cultures that coexist in his new surroundings in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
The collection was sparked by both the Hasidic and Hipster communities that are present in Seco’s Williamsburg neighborhood. Seco mixed the strict dress code from the Hasidic community with the more relaxed, easy going and effortless looks of the Hipster community. During my interview Seco said: “I observed men who acknowledged and respected religion; who were in touch with music and art, along with the traditions… They were so different but where neighbors… I felt a deep respect for their culture. ”
Seco’s “Urban Orthodox” collection is made up of relaxed, oversized silhouettes in combination with leather, velvet, wool, cashmere, and cotton along with dark palettes of green, black and grays. Seco also did a wonderful job incorporating elements of his Mexican heritage while keeping each piece fresh and original!
Seco says his process of creating his collection was the “economy, and creating clothing of quality.” At the end of the show when ask how will he celebrate his collection and he said: “I will celebrate in an Americana hotel with all of my friends of New York and Mexico”
