Fashion designer Michelle Smith showcased her spring collection for Milly Minis this week with a runway show full of pint-sized fashions—and fashionistas!
The youngsters strutted the pseudo-catwalk at the brand’s Upper East Side boutique. The designer teamed up with the cast from Broadway’s hit musical Annie for the line’s first-ever fashion show.
Smith told us that she has always loved Annie. “It just seemed like a great synergy for the launch of my Milly Minis collection to do something with the cast of Annie! I remember when it first came out when I was a child. I still have the original cast album!”
When asked what A-list baby she would love to style, she told us “It’s got to be Kate Middleton’s baby. I’m so excited! I can’t wait to see if she’s going to have a boy or a girl.”

Banana Republic and Milly founder and designer Michelle Smith announced today that they will be launching a limited-edition capsule inspired by the summer sophistication of the Hamptons called the Banana Republic Milly Collection. The women’s collection is a great extension for Milly, with the men’s styles representing Smith’s first foray into designing menswear, a unique innovation for the design partnership, and at a lower price point. The capsule launches exclusively at select Banana Republic retail locations worldwide and online in late May 2013.
The Banana Republic Milly Collection marries the iconic Banana Republic sense of modern style with Milly’s signature vintage-inspired prints and patterns for a collection that feels equal parts sophisticated and playful. The Banana Republic Milly Collection includes pieces for women and men, such as feminine silhouettes in splashes of neon for her and tailored separates in bold prints for him.
